Hey guys, has anyone put a TH400 in an A8 car and kept everything working? I know this can be done with the manuals relatively easily. @ostmike ?

I was first with a Hellcat on this forum. Going on 4 years now. I got mine thru OST as a package. The “problem” with the A8 conversion is you have to have the PCM/BCM/RF Hub hacked. AJ was doing that for a fee. Then there is some additional harness pinning and a complete retune required (can’t use your current auto tune with the new manual programming) so don’t think it’s plug n play. Once done, it works. It was wonderful on the street and the more power you make the better it gets.

Got it, thanks man! So easiest way, really, is back to m6 lol. M6 cars only need to keep the reverse lockout sensor from the tr6060, other than it it’s plug and play for those. Thanks for the info man! Wasn’t sure if they figured it out

So, basically need m6 clutch pedal wiring, pcm flashed with m6 os, bcm reconfigured for m6 car, and probably the reverse lockout from the tr6060. Or just switch parking brake to be from over can bus to sensor and reproduce the ohms

You can hook up a trans brake with a th400, coupled with the stage6 2 step.

I will never tell you what to do with your time/money/resources but I think you have many other things you could do to go faster than change out the transmission. Suspension, 15" conversion, pulley, tuning, etc.

What got this itch on your arse started?

I was just wondering if anyone figured it out yet (an easy way) for the a8. I have to switch the rear out, transmission isn’t shifting it’s best, was more curious than anything. I debated going with the th400 prior to the a8, but didn’t want to go through the hassle of getting a gear vendor and custom driveshaft, everything that goes with that swap

Honestly….. Unless you are very serious about racing and are making or are planning to make a ton of power, there’s a lot of stuff that will get results for a lot less money. When I did mine, there wasn’t the aftermarket hp90 build options there are today. I was making way past what the stock trans could reliably take back then and knew I was going after more, so the 400 was a choice at that time. Thing is…. There’s a lot more to it than just the trans. Flexplate, Converter, Crossmember, Shifter, Driveshaft, Computer Mods and Tuning. You’re looking at over $15k for a 1200whp rated conversion. Thats too much because it’s not necessary for a mid eight second car now. One of the high end hp90’s will get the job done for a lot less. If you decide to go all out and make a seven second race car out of it (now you should go with the 400) you should do it right and go with the full race (DragPak) level combination. Now you’re talking Race Car Money that requires another level commitment.
