Well the Whipple met my expectations finally last night. I’ve been battling a occasional at part throttle CEL P0607 that would throw the car into super limp mode, like 0 power find someone where to get off the road quick power reduction lol.

A8EBE218-C9B6-4909-A12F-5732DF34DD82.jpeg

But THANKS to the superb ability of @jonx96 he solved what was stumping whipple and even the HP Tuners forum. Man he’s good!! And this was at 8 pm or so last night, talk about custom remote tuning support!! Then he stayed with me until after 10 pm making tuning tweaks until I finally got my full weight M6 fat cat on 305 20” Nitto’s into a 10 second with no burnout street 1/4 mile pass, YAA-HOO THANKS Jon! Ran out of fuel, Draggy Battery, laptop battery, phone battery and I had to call it quits for the night, Jon was ready to keep going even at 11 pm, unbelievable service!!

I need to up the rpm limit as I’m hitting it before completion of the 1/4 or the ET would be even better! Next time out with Jon custom M6 launch tune we’ll get it consistently soon!

And almost in the 4’s 60-130, pretty bad ass for a stick cat on the street!!
Look out Bugatti 😂

And also MUCH THANKS to HHP for having this Whipple in stock for a good price and getting it out to me same day of purchase and I had it the next day, a Friday so I could start the installation that weekend. 👍👍

A little info about this new version of the Whipple. First…. They’re on sale right now for Labor Day so HHP or wherever… now’s the time to save. As some of you know…. I have the DragPak version. The street version differs in the performance capabilities in the intercooler area. Whipple however has a spacer available for lifting the lid on the street version to allow for the larger intercooler if you decide to step it up in that dept later. I saw that HHP has a new raised hood for that that is just sick 🤩 The efficiency of these is tops. We recently saw over 1100whp at only 18 lbs on one of the e85 street motors.

No. The DragPak version is huge on top. I’m running the Kenne Bell cowl hood but the recent picture I saw of the HHP raised hood was awesome. I don’t have a picture E6572526-FBEA-45C5-9CFB-1157BFB000A6.jpeg

I was at the Yellow Bullet race this past weekend. It was the first time I've seen this build and all I can say say is WOW! This "Whipple" Hood is Great Looking and fits really well with the Whipple install! Tom who owns this Hellcat was highly impressed and wouldn't have it any other way!

That’s the hood I was referring to. I like that a lot. Deals with the big blower issue and still keeps the original Hellcat look. That in carbon fiber with stock hardware would be hard to resist. That 4.5 Whipple is a interesting setup. He has a huge plenum spacer under the SC. I had a small one and it made a huge difference. Whipple told me that there was a bunch more to be had going bigger but I opted to forgo chasing that and went to the new design 3.0 instead. That rear throttle body is something else. I’m going to bet they will have belt issues moving that blower up that far. We could barely keep the belt on with a fraction of that spacer.

Guess what folks, Whipples have a flaw, their not perfect either when it comes to rotors clashing. A friend of mines, stock lower 2.5 upper, well within safe rpm for the unit, less than 200 miles on this one, 11 1/8 mile passes only, auto car, rattled on start up from day one and got worse and worse so he took the lid off to find this. Looking into warranty now but from what I’m hearing this is a hush hush issue with them, warped front plate causing rotor miss alignment. I’ll post progress and resolve once known, I’ll be checking mine as well as their not mouse quiet at idle, even the instructions tell you a rattle at idle is normal, really???

My opinion, there’s not enough support webbing supporting the faster male rotor on the left, it should have had at least one more support leg around the 2pm position.

It's man-made. There's going to be some problems.
Did it spit any metal down the intake?

no, metal would have to go through 2 intercooler radiator passes to get to the valve area. I’m sure microscopic costing and aluminum dust did but probably so small it vaporized on combustion. SUCKS to see this, I bought mine to get away from this shit of rotors clashing. From what I hear Whipple is taking care of these under warranty but you have to ship it back on your dime and there’s a 4-6 week turnaround so save your shipping box as it may be needed!! :(

PS, upon return of the blower to him he’s selling it, he’s going to go with a twin Hellion turbo kit blown through a stock 2.4 blower with a 2.85 pulley and stock lower, tuner says 1400-1500 wheel hp and you can run anything from pump gas to corn to race fuel by a simple on the fly change to the boost controller. Cost for the kit around $8000 he said, sounding interesting.

So you wonder how much support is lost with porting? Mine will be daily driven so I guess we will see longevity. There are 2.4 that last forever and some come apart not spun as fast of others

He was running 5.5 in the 1/8 already on a 2.4 blower. Yes, agree, blowers are like a crap shoot, sounds like it’s that way with Whipples too :(
I’ll be keeping my 2.4 now lol, it will just get a solid pulley if I ever have to use it again. I’ll pin the rotors in place on the gear end if I ever use it again and put a 2.85 Griptech on it.
