No my daily is a C7 corvette in summer. Hellcat gets about 2000 miles per year.

and a cage is just more than roll over it’s also about impact. And making chassis stronger
Agreed, but they’re already built to withstand impacts. Unless you gutted it and weakened its structural integrity which is why the NHRA rules allow 9.0 and 150 without one

I agree cage is more than rollover. You can have a rollover bar alone, but the full.cage strengthens unibody to withstand impacts.from any angle better and.protect the golden zone around the driver from crushing.

I am way more safety conscious today than when i was a "kid"

If I was running 8s I would have one, and it probably wouldn’t be my hellcat it would be a build base model v6 that I salvaged, stripped, caged and built. I’m not disagreeing that they aren’t needed after a certain point, they’re literally required faster than 9.0

Right, if you’re trapping 150 you should be knocking on the door of 9.0 in these cars

15 inch conversion and brake change requires a cage? Wasnt aware.

People also need to read the cage rule jon brought this up.
8.99 and/or 150mph a cage is needed

add taking out seats you are removing air bags need cage

light weight brakes are not factory need cage
15 inch rears need cage

The subject of cages in street cars is something that will always be argued. Street cars that can run in the 8’s at over 150 mph is something that in the past would have been a laugh. A 8.5 cage that is custom made isn’t intrusive in the front seat area. The door bars can be swing out or be removable. What it does do though is block the curtain airbags with the overhead bar and your head needs to be kept away from that bar. That means you should be wearing a harness to keep that from happening. It’s one of those things…. As long as you consider the risks, than you make the decision. America!! When you go below 8.5…. Things get much more complicated. It starts to look like this… B04D16C9-8214-44E7-9BAA-20E22168364E.jpeg 3E699B00-A6CC-4A66-B0E5-21E2FA229BBA.jpeg

One of the things I think can be confusing the with the new 2014+ late model rules that allow 9.00 at 150 is (when it comes to safety) everything has to be functional. That includes anything that can turn on a warning light. ABS is one of those. I don’t think it requires that the brakes remain OE. Just that the ABS is functioning and no lights are on. Having been thru a lotta techs… in the case of these new rules concerning the “street legal” late models… I would expect that they will have you turn on the ignition and confirm no check lights.

Any "major" event has a strict tech policy. Even when I went to Gainesville the 1st time they checked all of my safety gear for compliance.

Things will always be different depending on the track or even the individuals working at them. At the MATS event in Vegas last week and I was standing at the starting line. A car ran a 7.44 pass and I heard the starting line guy tell another to find that car and have him report back to tech😳. Even if he had a 7.5 cert cage in there… he just went too fast and they were going to get his ass. Tracks out west be like that
