The “options” pricing makes zero sense.

As someone that was looking to replace a car, those RE prices are my exact problem. $94 and $96K for a Hellcat Redeye????

I don’t disagree… paid $65 for my loaded HC Charger in 2017.
Having said that, is there another American 4 seater that competes with the HC, at all, at any price point? Sounds like they have the market cornered, and they have since 2015.

Once you're at a $100k price point options open up. BMW and Porche come to mind.

That's the problem. These cars used to be the middle finger to those brands.

One thing I don't understand is why the $14k charge for Widebody. So two flares and wider wheels are $14k? Is something else included for widebody cars?

That’s why I said American… a lot of MOPAR guys aren’t buying anything European, regardless of how much “nicer” they may be.
Not sure there is a lot of cross shopping between Hellcat and M5, everyone I know with one or the other has no interest in the other. Sure, some guys will cross shop them, but not enough to matter.

65 g's for a loaded Charger...a bargain (even back then) it was a unique car with no real competition they could have raised the selling point 35%...and still had a strong consumer market...instead ...the killed it...makes ya wonder...

Two words. Carbon credits. They had to kill the hellcat engine. It never met standards. They offset it with carbon credit. They’re drying up, not sustainable to buy anymore. Every car has very specific settings for emissions machines. Just because it passes smog doesn’t mean it actually does, it means it passed the settings that they were allowed.

Yes, bought mine in fall 2019 when both were active. Regular bodys were upper 60s, wide bodys upper 70s at that time.

Kinda like phones, once you get to the point we are at what will the new phone do which the last didnt? I dont see how an overly priced euro car for more money is going to give you more that is worth the extra cost. I only hear they are more to fix when they break

What's different and does it justify the $14k?
The 14k is a money grab.
Like the entire car.

Remember, they make a profit on these cars at 30k or whatever the SXT sells for.
The cost to make a V8 vs a V6 is not much difference in material.

Dodge made a healthy profit selling Hellcats at 60k!
Demons are now double that and for what?

I'd like to see statistics on this. I'd say when these cars were in the $60-$70K range you'd be right, once they got to $100K you're in a different market and I would argue more people cross shop since it pushed these cars in to a different category at least price wise. I know several that cross shopped Hellcat vs BMW M3. I'm not a BMW fan so that's not something I'd look at, but the 911 is a contender at these prices. Used 2021 Redeyes (which had power dollars by the way) I found were going for nearly $90K!!! So my opinion is that these higher prices brought in a new demographic of buyer with more disposable income and it's had a snow ball effect. When I first got in to these cars back in 2009 is was a very different group. Just look at all the goobers over on the other forum who like to talk about "oh yes I have a Redeye, and a TRX, and 3 170s on order".

The 14k is a money grab.

Well here's the rub. Redeye is let's say $95K based on the POCs that were posted. Demon 170 is $96K base or around $110K with nice options. I asked a while back if the hardware in the 170 was worth the extra and most agreed it was. That's where I am with the Redeye being way over priced at present with standard Hellcat not far behind.

...regular bodies...
...regular body cars...
^ Y'all see this?!

It's NOT a "narrow body", it's a regular/standard body, there was NO such thing as a "narrow body" Challenger back in the day so stop with the passive-aggressive projecting and trying to justify the Jeep Bushwhacker slapped on gaff AF fender extensions on your WIDE bodies by trying to trash talk the classic look the standard body master race is rocking...! :ROFLMAO:

/rant :p
