Car discussion

I have a 1955 Chevy 210. Used to be a drag car converted to a hot rod late 80s/early 90s
Muncie 4 speed, 10 both, 350 or 355 (can't remember) but its all in need of a rebuild.

Currently sitting in my garage under a car cover as it has for the past 5 years or so.
Learned to drive stick on the car in the 90s when i got my license.

I have no clue what i want to do with it. I have been as extreme as a x275/ultra car and just gut it and make it race car because when i drive it, it just attracts attention.

Or make it a bracket car and go back to doing something i used to love before being married with kids.

Or make it a street strip car. LS turbo (currently have an aluminum L33 with rods, pistons, turbo manifold, cam etc).
Or do i go the protouring/pro daily route and make it a cruiser i can take the family with

Or make it like an old timey hot rod. Radical SBC with a close ratio stick and dog dish wheels etc (actually my favorite idea now)

What would the Hellcat/Mopar fans do with this Chevy. And no, im not selling it. Ever.

I would for sure make her a cruiser and make her border line radical but tame to drive and be reliable to take on long hauls. The wife and kids get to enjoy what you enjoy and that’s a forever time in
Moment for all to remember.

I can talk nonsense with the best of them (except Stormtrooper, MASTER) but love talking about racing and how to make my car faster. I feel a lot of people just drive their car and are not interested in doing anything else. I want to know what makes mine faster by testing parts, going to the drag strip. I have been a drag racer for over 30 years. Some have said they just keep waiting for the next new thing to come from Dodge. Why not turn your own car into the better new thing? Putting a Hellcat into the 9's isn't that hard, just like everything else it does cost money but cheaper then buying a new one. I do most of the work on my cars myself. It saves money and you learn more about it and how to fix it. I leave the building a short block or transmission to someone else but taking it apart and putting it together I do myself. If I'm going to do something today, I will try to find videos for ideas that may make it easier and save time. I'm always surprised how people will say how hard something is to do like headers when it really isn't. I think people are afraid to work on their car. Best time of the year is about here, fall, when the air is cool and you can chase new personal bests at the track

Did the AAD arms coming in contact with the sway bar get fixed or a cure found? HHP endlinks were one of the problems, Bwoody no issue so far apparently.

Around the end of July Parker said they would be coming out with their own adjustable endlinks to avoid contact on custom setups. No more news yet.

I didn't order a set since they were a pretty penny for billet, wanted to wait until the setup was dialed in for no contact.

What tabs did you finally end up with to get the zero toe. I’ve got my camber where I want it for drag racing but the toe has me chasing my tail. You’re right that doing the math and “figuring” what will work has been frustrating. The last correction I made for toe was too much and now I am going to take half of that back out and see what happens. Thanks.
The big breakthrough was using a more negative tab on the front arm than the camber arm. That did change the toe to “in” quick, but did not change the camber. Strange. So the trial and error continued for me, but I had the basic alignment kit to help. I know on the RE using two zero tabs on the uppers makes mine use the full/longest +2.5 mm toe tab to get it to zero toe. Now using two -2 tabs on the upper arms to get more camber for road racing, required the damn (edit) +0.05mm toe tab for zero toe. Weird, huh? BUT I don’t like it, both the Cup 2’s and PS4S want to consistently fishtail right on a hard spin, or what must happen when you guys give it everything at a DIG. So it seems for me, the most flat and straight burn/load is the two zero arm tabs and the full out toe tab. I measured twice, three times and tried it before, that is the most flat, straight, uneventful and most traction, best acceleration combo on mine. With little or no camber (-0.6 degrees) it won’t fishtail to that one side. Versus just installing the two -2’s which make it fishtail one direction. Also, the big wide tires with all those mods in the back could give a rip about wear and camber. They are flat side to side and the shoulders remain good, outside and inside. Now Mark, don’t get me started about the front, that is my winter project. I know you guys don’t care about that part anyway.

I’m using the Carlyle adjustable links and the AAD arms do not hit. I think those links are $110. 88033F07-719A-4446-A2F2-E9E40BF7882A.jpeg

Think it just comes down to having the right length end links. I got lucky since the Bwoodys were the ones I bought for my 17' wheels:)

I reinstalled my OEM arm to get rid of the interference.

Well mine exploded two Saturdays ago. Ten hours in the garage! Finally, need to change all six arms to that previous setup and never touch it again. Problem is as you know each one of those arms has its unique PIA process to set a new tab up. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes it tries your patience.

Yep you’re right. I don’t want to be negative on the AAD because the set is definitely the bomb for controlling the wheels once set right and as you say... never touch them again. Of coarse I have a completely different tire situation and comparing to yours would be apple’s to hand grenades. I ended up with considerably too much toe in. I can see that it’s pidgin toed just looking at it. But... it ran like crazy and I noticed that it felt more stable then when the toe was slightly out. Of coarse having one in and one out would be disastrous, but I’m kinda thinking that, at least in a straight line with big sidewall drag tires, a little toe in might not be a bad thing to go in a straight line.

I know, they have great products, all you guys say they are great people. How strange. But I don’t lie, they have NOT responded to several very legit and important email items I have sent them in the past 60 days. Even as @Finface specifically had conversations and emails with them about me.
I am not doubting you what so ever . I can only speak from my own personal experiences and I have never had an issue with AAD customer service. Same as speedlogix. Many people have complaints about them but I never had any issues with them either . I hope you get your issues resolved with them .

I come here for the whole experience. I look at the road race stuff, the drag race stuff, the oil stuff, the catch can stuff, the for sale stuff, the other interactional stuff....and the nonsense stuff. I have a stressful job and by the end of the day, I use this as a therapeutic release. This is one escape to the dream of a life that doesn't so closely resemble hell

I appreciate everyone's input, even if I may not understand it 100% of the time. I see some of the threads, read what's there, watch a video if it's provided, but I may just click a thumbs up. It's not that I don't appreciate what's there, I may feel that I don't have anything to offer on the topic. @DGatzby has the ability to explain all that he's going through with his suspension endeavors, as evidenced above, and I appreciate his knowledge on the matter, as I appreciate the knowledge that others bring here, but David, there is no way I'd get into an indepth conversation about that with you because of my own ignorance. I know what some of the things are that you're talking about, and other parts I don't. So, I watch what you post, and the videos you supply. I probably don't comment on it 99% of the time. And that goes for others whose content I cruise past as well. Many of you are so far past me on what you are doing and have done with these cars, I really don't feel that I have much to offer to the conversation. So I watch from the sidelines.

I like the scientific stuff that gets posted here because I might learn something, or god forbid I might actually have some previous experience with what's being talked about. I like to know how things work, but I don't necessarily get down into the complete engineering of it. I've been exposed to a whole lot of people smarter than myself, some of whom can engineer a complete aircraft on a cocktail napkin during dinner. That's not me. I like to learn what I can about it, but I'm not the person you want engineering the next airliner you're gonna fly on. I can contribute toward fixing if it's broke, and I can contribute to flying it if need be because that's my background.

I like the varied topics that come up here whether it's what music have you listened to today, to some of the political stuff, the car stuff, to the general bs that rears its head here. I look at it like a supermarket, scan for what you want and pick it up. I think one of the things that makes this forum great is that we can pretty much talk about anything, all you have to do is start a thread. You can talk guns, girls, music, politics, race cars, engines, oil, catch cans, taxi services, whatever you want, just start a thread.

I am definately a "mod" guy, and have been doing so with my Cuda, big time. Rebuilding this car from the bare body on up (as a resto mod) gets real expensive when buying things like a Hellcrate engine; Strange Dana 60; 4 wheel Baer brakes; custom front K member (which I completely modified) and suspension. Buying my Red Eye that has seriously expensive items if you have to replace them, makes me scared to death of modding it only to have the warranty denied if my engine or even just the supercharger were to go bad. I just can't afford to replace that stuff. I'm therefore just running drag radials and having a blast running in the 10s. That is seriously fast for ME, as I hang on to the steering wheel for dear life when I get a good launch. However, I definately read and enjoy the great build or modify threads. I'm bad at interacting much in them or even giving them a like or high five because it seems my time on this website and a couple of others for my Cuda ends up taking HOURS. I just can't do that. So any of you who post cool pics, videos and threads about modding and racing, please know there ARE people here who are looking, enjoying and appreciating them. They're not going unnoticed.

When I was a bit younger, I was getting decent at posting pictures on forums but I totally got lost on this newest Window 10 computer I bought. Once I figure out how to get a few pics loaded on this computer, I will be requesting y'all's input on how to post them here.
