with the heat and humidity and the cabin ac on that is working perfectly. What I think most people miss is that the only thing the chillers do is keep the ic and iats below the threshold of having the pcm pull power. other than that they aren't gaining anything from the chiller.

The goal is colder iats that’s makes more power

Ice box gets you there (a lot) cheaper and less complicated

adds a lot of un needed weight. and ice adds up at 40lbs a pass. then 40lbs in between passes.

Chiller is good for road racing/standing mile. I think an ice box is more than enough for 1/4”

Think about it. You need to add an aux tank with a chiller of 3 gallons or more. The weight of the core. There’s your 40lbs.

I’d rather have the weight in the back with the ice box then the weight up front with aux tank (weight of tank and 3+ gallons of fluid, ice boxes are 8 gallons) and weight if core up front

Does anyone have the weight of an IC Chiller core/valves/etc vs and FI interchiller?

I do not run any added aux tank at all with my system. It stays just as cold as any one else's I've seen posted so far.

Which system do you run? Do you bypass the heat exchanger? Do you have logs from the top of the track? I’d be interested to see you IAT/MAT at the top of the track and if it’s pulling spark

Just curious is all, I’m trying to get as much information as possible. I was all for the chiller kits, but have been wondering if they truly perform better than an ice tank

I’ve heard of people running out of cold fluid not using an aux tank at the top of the track and since you have the heat exchanger bypassed your temps can shoot up higher than without a chiller

I run the IC Chiller on my car. I have the street kit, so I have the option to use my factory HE or Bypass it. in the heat you bypass it. I absolutely have logs of ever pass made. never have I seen over 111 degrees even after a hot lap.

staging lanes the IC coolant will get to 28-30 degrees, after the burnout about 40 degrees. no higher than 55 by the end of the pass, goes up to about 70 on the return lane. then back into the 40's before I get to my pit. at Rockingham it was 85-90 degrees ang humid. my IAT's never went over 120 the entire time there.

Interesting, with no aux tank. I’ll be racing in 100+ degree weather 1000% humidity most of the year. So I wonder if that would have an impact not having an aux tank

Do you log MAT? Also, do you have just the stock intercooler pump?

yes and yes. I have a Whipple so I have much better intercooler bricks than the IHI. that plays a role for sure. also depends on how hard you're spinning the IHI.

Ah, yeah makes more sense now. I never saw above 110 on my whipple 4.5 stock cooling system
