Well… 🫤. I guess I’ll put the results here. At Famoso trying to get dialed for Houston next month. First pass was with 18* timing to get some safe data. This was the first 1/4 mile pass on the new build. 8.44 at 161 mph. Decision was made to just drive it off the line off the foot brake and raised the bars up high for a soft leave. That was a mistake. Carried the fronts until the second gear shift at about 100 ft. (See pic). Tripped the 60’ with the rear wheels at a 1.24. Things went down hill from there. The mph kept going down and it was obvious that something was wrong. Turns out a o-ring in the Holly valve cover failed and was oiling the plugs on the left rear cylinder causing a misfire. We now have a dead coil pack. These are the Holley EFI coils so it’s doubtful we’ll score another one for tomorrow. Oh well ☹️ View attachment 89449

I'm running the Holley EFI coils. They don't fit on the stock covers. I went to those coils for the new motor we're building. It will be a very aggressive 11:1 comp. 30 lb 3.8 Whipple monster. The higher voltage coils 'should' be a benefit with that motor. Also the fab covers have the room for the aftermarket rocker setups (we're using T&D) and make pulling plugs easy. Other than that... they suck lol tempImagev98JQ1.png

At one point the go to weight for record runs was whatever Leah's Demon weighed back when she went the 9.65. I think I remember than number but I'm not certain enough of it to put in in writing. That always seemed reasonable to me. This would allow for lightweight batteries and such to compensate for Leah's smaller than your typical Demon owners size.
I do know some weighed less than that and went pretty quick.

I personally think it'd be cool if the Legion event ran a stock Demon record category where the cars were weighed and signed off on after any run that the owner wanted to be counted as official. This wouldn't account for any other "not stock" stuff that might be going on though...
Yes, the problem is we had no real rules. I ran 9.55 with a full one seat interior. But I was light (around 4180) and on aftermarket wheels and tires. Then a couple others caddyhacked their cars and took that record from me. Oh well. I think the agreed on weight for an official record is 4260 or 4280 with driver. It's from a showroom car , then add the factory drag pack, then add Leah. Makes sense. But if you run carbon fiber wheels and then balast up to 4260 that car will run faster. So then you are in a grey area etc. And it goes on for ever....... I never ever ran my car on the nittos. Not even from day one. Never really had in any interest in breaking things or any kind of showroom stock or pure stock record. Plus there are nearly zero tracks that will hold the nitto.

I am content saying my factory tunes (ECM, TCM, BCM, Suspension Module etc.) are unaltered and my complete powertrain are unaltered. So stock power delivered to the rear wheel hubs and a stock appearing car (except wheels and tires, Rears are smaller than stock). For instance I would love to install the SRT Performance spoiler, but that would not work for my puropse.

I REALLY like this "I personally think it'd be cool if the Legion event ran a stock Demon record category where the cars were weighed and signed off on after any run that the owner wanted to be counted as official. This wouldn't account for any other "not stock" stuff that might be going on though..." but lets not forget Nephtali had an aftermarket intake on his car...........

Yeah. I second that. Get the weight that Leah ran the 9.65 at (her weight included)...then, anyone who ran at that weight or higher without any mechanical or other grey area mods the car should be considered legit for a Stock OEM bracket. There could be a subset with OEM tires (since i assume thats how she ran with Nittos) but I'm not stuck on the tires part since they are consumable. I think those Nittos are now discontinued so what would we do in 10 yrs anyway?

These Two are ready to race at Legions. Just finished the (re) build on my friends car and got it all detailed top and bottom, pullied, tuned/tested weight reduction, new wheels tires etc etc....... He picks it up tomorrow. It's a great Car, no issues.

That's awesome Ron. Those 2 cars are well ahead of mine right now.
Btw, what size is your garage? I think I'll be building a new one sometime next year and yours seems like a great size.

It's a T shape. 60'X30' and 40' wide on the T. Not sure why he did it that way. Ceiling is 10' and has 8X16' doors on each end.

My COX battery came in today and it's installed as the final weight reduction for the car (saved 4.6 pounds over my Braille). 105 pounds lighter than last year. SRT Pages are still there so the car is 100% ready to load in the trailer. I cannot wait to get on the road. I have been conserving money this year, so no long road trips that were not a Hot Shot. It will be good to have my own shit in the trailer taking my time heading down the road. I go one week early for Brians event so it won't be long now............
