In the classes you are trying to run what are the minimum weights?
It’s basically a Open Comp class car where you run off a qualifying ET in sanctions like PSCA/SCSN. Weight isn’t a factor. The MSHS races are all East by 1500 to 2000+ miles. I can’t do that so their classes aren’t something I’m going to aim for. Open Comp is like bracket racing without the sandbagging BS. You run qualifying passes to establish what your number is and then you race it. During qualifying they watch for off gas finish line speeds and will disqualify you if you are monkeying around. It’s as close as heads-up racing gets with cars running different times. Then there’s the match/grudge thing for fun. I’ll race any of youall 😛

Good looking setup Marc.
Thank you. The new motor is coming together. We’ve decided to go with a solid lifter cam and spin it to 8000rpm shift points. These things are expensive as hell but kinda necessary with what we’re doing. The guy who knows says 1650 rwhp is the target. 😜

Here’s something that will amaze and confound you 🫣. Some of us use a catch can to keep a small amount of oil from returning to combustion via the intake. Those pain in the ass valve covers have baffles to keep that to a minimum. When you change to the fabricated/billet covers to make room for valve train and to be able to get to the plugs, the need for a more serious catch can that’s vented happens. At this point we’re pushing a huge amount of fuel into this thing. Here’s some of it (with a bit of oil for good measure). This is 8 passes (and why we change the oil after every race) 🫤 E01F22D0-2BC3-4FBF-AA44-8F82EDEA41FD.jpeg 972E26DA-10E3-4BCD-8424-5382C5DC6CB3.jpeg 80875516-E040-4997-9F6A-966E3CC70ACF.jpeg

Very pretty formations and patterns ;-) Much more appetizing than freshly used nitro oil, which looks like a baby's Gerber peas remnant lol

Back when we ran our pro mod the puke lines were plumbed into the upper frame rails, they carried the puke to a rear mounted tank. That way if we had an issue that caused it to puke a lot the car couldn't drive over its own puke.

Not a bad idea. I just need to make sure I stay on top of it and don’t forget to drain it. With the vents on top there it will paint that part of the windshield if it ever blows. I can see it steaming over there like some kind of dragon.

Yeah, over the windshield is certainly better than it getting under the car. We drained ours every pass since it put so much out. We'd generally get ~8oz per pass. Some methanol, some water.

So just for the record…. Got home safely and just about recovered from the 3400 miles of driving. Ended up costing right at $2000 for fuel and other expenses to get there and back. The car ran a disappointing 8.38 at 164.5 mph. It looks like my decision to go with the Holley “Smart Coils” was a mistake. Changed out the first set that had a failure in Bakersfield. They were sent back to Holley for analysis. Things didn’t go much better in Houston. The car ran slower each pass until it was obvious that it was a waste of time. Talked to a couple of the DragPak guys and was told to go back to the stock factory coils. I know the simple question is why not just swap them for a stock set while there. Can’t be done. The EFI wiring has to be changed. It’s a completely different deal. So…. We did make some suspension changes and learned some stuff. The suspension adjustments with wheel weights as recommended was almost a disaster. The car was driving so hard to the left on the top end (fastest pass) I ended up less than a foot from the wall at the finish line. We went backwards on that and it straightened out. The big story of coarse was the blue car. 7.84 backed up with a 7.88. She got into the wall past the finish line after the 7.88 (with a 300 ft wheelie). It’s repairable so it will be back. All said and done…. I think a statement on what SpankinTime Motorsports is capable of was made. That blue car was built from the ground up at this shop. The engine was built from the bare block, the EFI was installed and tuned from scratch and the suspension setup and all of the necessary fabrication was done in house. Not many shops can do that. This shop is going to be moving away from turning wrenches on customer cars and start focusing on engine building and tuning. When the new 401 bullet in my car hits the track there will be some WTF’s and “Where do I get one of those” going around. If you’re thinking about a seriously built motor in the future ( one that’s actually built right… you should see some of the crap from builders that gets torn down here)….. stay tuned 🤨
I guess I should be happy with my home built engine that went just as fast as you speed and et @4650 in Houston. With just a 3.0.
Billet 3.8 is 3 weeks out😀

Watch what your mouth says or you might end up looking stupid. I ran that with a failing ignition that had the car down 10 mph. It ran a 137 mph 1/8 before the ignition gremlins popped up. You done that yet? You didn’t happen to notice that my other shop car ran 7.84 with a best speed of 174+.
I’m ok with my 132 in the 1/8 in a 4650 pound car taking power out of it on the hit threw a 8 speed on stock suspension and factory electronics

so I’m not looking stupid. I still had 300 on a button. I’m just saying a HOME BUILT ENGINE.
Big difference is mines a HOME built street car not a full out drag car. Don’t take offense saying my home built engine did pretty good. Not always on how much you spend.

I edited my post. If you think that these cars are just big money pro built cars that are purchased…you are wrong. Is there a shop involved. Yes. One shop. I’m the one there doing the work on it. Building and tuning. These cars and engines are built from the ground up with our hands and knowledge. If you want to insult others by implying that for all the money they’re spending they aren’t performing compared to you… do it. You will end up sounding stupid.
Don’t get all butt hurt. Relax.

no one cut you down or your car. Have a nice night.

Stop belittling what others are doing compared to you and you won’t come across as a dick.
You take it as belittling.
You’re like the Jordan I’m just a giannis. Just proud I can keep up and I’m not shop. That’s it. Don’t get offended so easily.

Two months ago…. Blue kissed the wall after backing up her 7.84 pass with a wheel hanging 7.88. A lot of midnight oil burned straightening, banging and welding, and the only question now is…. Will she be ready for the Roadkill Last Call race in one week? 😎 B90C5FA6-3E72-41B1-8737-A2E624BFDDF3.jpeg 255A55D1-B9E8-4944-9F64-2F0E8FDE7D52.jpeg 742205FC-DB24-4025-B09C-D39D2DE192E9.jpeg 71271C6E-C40A-434A-8CE6-EFC325533073.jpeg

And in the meantime….. got rid of that troublesome “Smart” Ignition that has been plaguing my attempts to get down the track. She sounds good now 👍🏼 B06B30FF-146D-4956-BACD-E74CC7B131D3.jpeg F9245F7D-E979-444B-BFB4-9809D9DD70DE.jpeg
