After 9 years of owning Mopars. 3 Chargers my first was an 2017 SRT392 Jazz Blue. I traded the 392 for my 2019 PB charger hellcat. In 2023 I traded the 19’ Cat for a Torred Last Call Jailbreak Charger. I’ve loved the Platform through and through. However I’ve been looking at gt500s seriously for the last couple of years. Recently i finally decided to pull the trigger on a 2022 Shelby GT500 CFTP Code Orange. The story has a happy ending since the one other mopar I owned I sold to my dad which he plans on keeping a long time which Is the 2019 Redeye Challenger Triple Nickle with the 3.09 gears. Sweet car also I’m glad we could keep at least one mopar in the family. It’s kind of strange for me now I’m already the enemy I had a challenger 392 test me (his passenger shake his head to the mustang lol) on the highway home well I put 3 car lengths on him in short order giving him a handsome hit as well. I gave them the thumbs up.. immediately notice the power difference on the top end in this gt500 pulls very nice it’s super linear too. The ride quality is very good it’s obviously a little bumpier than the charger but I’d say halfway between the charger and a c7 corvette. The recaro seats I find very comfortable i fit in them nicely.

Fwiw the charger was nicer looking to me. Best of luck with it. Any plans to mod?

I liked the charger a ton also. No plans to do much to the gt500. It needs a catch can. They put new Michelin cup 2s on the car for me and the oil was just changed. I’m planning on PPFing the full front and do paint correction and ceramic coat. Tint the side and rear windows. It honestly came down to color and options. I really wanted the CFTP specifically I also wanted a 22 and I was looking at a couple blues, a couple grays and finally found code orange. I wanted one also that had no stripes I prefer the 500 without the stripes.

I drove my charger though. I put 8500 miles on her. They gave me a fair trade in my mind so I’m happy with the deal. I think in the long run the 500 appointed this way will hold its value better long term. I’m trying to be a little more conservative and own only one sports car / muscle car at a given time. Obviously I still get to drive the challenger Redeye on occasion so it works for me.

Almost snagged a gt350 before the kitty. It was white with blue. They were having alot of engine issues with the flat plane crank and excessive oil consumption. Passed on the gt350, still have a soft spot for the Shelby. Beautiful machine.

Cool story. Before I bought my challenger Redeye I also passed on a white with blue stripes gt350 back in the beginning of 2020. I’m not done with mopar that’s for sure. I’m hearing talks about a new viper I might be interested in keeping the gt500 and also getting a new viper if they release in 2027 or so. If not I also really like the last gen viper 2.0 T/A’s

I had a stint with mustangs only because Dodge didn't make any V8 rear wheel drive cars in the late 80s and through the 90s. Though they were fun coming back to Dodge I can't see me buying another mustang. They really lost me with the 24 model, nothing appealing with it. We all have different wants and needs but I could never see me giving up my "TAXI" for a mustang

Good looking car. Wish it was lighter. But I guess everything is heavy today. Can be made pretty fast with bolt ons.....
