Decided to go with penzoil platinum plus 0w40 and k&n kilter every 3000 miles. If anyone has other suggestions, would be appreciated. Thx in advance.

Only the most recently produced ones are still within factory warranty...so you can pretty much use whatever you want.

I typically use Mobil 1 Euro 0w40 but recently switched to Driven HP-X Euro 0w40 - all metals went down at the first interval except for aluminum but we're talking a very minute increase. Car ran 2 events, drove over 4000 miles to/from/during those and ran 16 passes or so on that OCI. So likely just from the absolute ass beating it took.

What I can say is the OEM 899 filter is spectacular. Insolubles were at a TR amount. I then switched to Fram Titanium because I got 8 filters for 3 bucks a piece on closeout. That increased to 0.2 - Once those are gone I will be going back to OEM.

Oil choice is great, filter choice was great until K&N succumbed and outsourced the manufacturing to "Far East" suppliers - beware . I will never put an Asian filter on my cars unless it's the last choice on Earth between driving and not.

Purolator and Wix are owned by Mann+Hummel. Their QC has been pretty bad lately. The OCD oil filter nerds that cut and post pics on BITOG are saying the best built filters these days are MicroGard Select, NAPA Gold and Mobil 1. Mobil 1 were being made by M+H and Exxon Mobil fired them.

Yea, the oil filter market is a jungle the last couple years for sure - with the collapse of Fram, and mergers and acquisitions of others that had provided stable, quality product for a long time, etc. I am happy in hindsight that I pulled the trigger a few years ago and "invested" in multiple cases of Mopar 899s and 041s at decent prices in the early stages of the bio-terror attack in 2020 before it hit the supply chain in a big way - basically a lifetime supply. I had not bought filters of any kind since then until recently for a DZ302 SBC I am building for a '69 Z28 resto - just to survey things, I bought two each, 1 long and 1 short of the premium white K&N, and Wix from Summit...both K&N were made in Vietnam, and both Wix Made in USA at the Carolina plant. Needless to say the K&N got returned, and I was disappointed enough I wrote to them , and to their credit, did not hide the fact, but offered a BS song and dance about quality has not been affected by the action yada yada - I called BS.

Also know that even with Wix, only certain P/N appear to be made at the Carolina plant, others could be from elsewhere since the Mann+Hummel merger, as evidenced by another brother recently bought a common Wix for his LS, and....Made in Mexico.

K&N oil and air filters only flow so great beacuse they filter so poorly. I would never bet the life of my motor on any K&N filter.....

I have been using K&N on my Hurst SC/Rambler, for years. It's difficult to get filters, time to start looking...

I have been using the good Penzoil 0w40, since my first Hellcat in 2015, never a problem. I get the online dealer coupons and have the oil/filter changed every six months, at the Dodge dealer. I believe they use the standard Mopar filter, no problems. Also, this fills the 6 month requirement for oil changes and if there is a problem, everything is on record.

^^^That cross-ram dual quad intake is a pretty rare and exotic piece! Get a Z/28 with one of those and front disc brakes and you got a unicorn!

All the factory skunkworks were working overtime back then.

^^^They were discontinued and are now made by another manufacturer and are not the same as they were before.

I have opened one up out of the dozen I purchased. They are identical to the previous versions. They have various names and numbers. My Redeye loves them. It told me.

All the info needed to get some below…. IMG_3891.jpeg IMG_3657.jpeg IMG_3430.jpeg IMG_3429.jpeg

Yeah that new Wix filter is the one to buy, the new version of the SRT branded filter being sold does not have the spring down in the middle.

My supply of the old filters is down to 1! Need to order more soon. Great info @DGatzby !
