I have been a MOPAR owner since 1969 when I purchased my first new MOPAR, a Q5 A12, 1969 Super Bee SIX PACK coupe. I still have the car along with an Alpine White 440-6 Superbird, 1966 Dart, 1966 Coronet 440, 1998 Neon R/T, 2005 Commemorative Edition SRT 4, 2021 Charger GT AWD, 2021 Indigo Blue Challenger Scat Pack Widebody, which I will be selling, 2022 RAM 2500 Cummins long bed, and I am still waiting on my 2023 Challenger Hellcat Redeye Jailbreak Widebody to get it to my dealer. I am an Army Vietnam Veteran, 1967-68. I have a wife Cathy and a daughter Heather. I am 75 years old and I still work 5 days a week and I Drag race my 1966 Dodge Coronet 440 and the Scat Pack once in a while. I hope to learn a few things about my car if it ever gets here. Luckily, I paid off the Scat Pack a few months ago and I will be using it as a down payment.
You are truely an OG. Glad to have you here. Now lets see pics of the Mopars or it didn't happen. ;) Thank you for your service brother and welcome home!

[welcome] to the forum!

You do have quite a cool car collection[pics?]

Are you Drag racing Bracket, Index?

Agent orange is quite nasty!
God Bless you and Thank you. Your service went beyond what you signed up for!

Married, daughter, 75 still working, racing cars and a Jailbreak on the way!
That's Awsome!

Are you planning on going to the track with the JB?

Congrats, I hope the JB arrives sooner rather than later!

Linda :)
Thank you. I race in Sportsman and Pro with my 1966 Coronet 440. Yes, I plan on purchasing a set of 11 x 17 wheels and 315/35x 17 Drag Radials. I am selling a few things and I paid off my Scat Pack a few months ago so I hope to have a large down payment.

I do remember an A12 Forum member @NAM68-70 who is a Q5 A12 Bee original owner from the Midwest… View attachment 97021
I still have it. I drive it in warm weather, 20221023_145405 (1).jpg but I still don't have the wing glass frames and glass and the door glass in. Thank God for garages.

Why not? Better get r dun. Once you get that new car, you will be even less motivated. It took me 7 years to get my Barracuda together once it was painted. I already had the motor done and all the components ready to assemble but just didn’t feel like working on it. I think that is somewhat related to our age…

I had the wing glass frames done and they took them apart. I am not sure how they are supposed to be reattached. I have the 1966 Dart about finished. I hope to be driving it before the end of the month. It runs great but the throwout bearing is noisy. My 99 Neon R/T is almost ready except for the rack and pinion, which I have, and replacing the left front fender, which I also have. The Superbird is ready to go except for a top radiator hose and clamp. It is insured and plated. I drove it quite a bit two years ago but not since. I do start it and let it warm about at least monthly. I am thinking about selling the Superbird and then getting the A12 finished.

Too small because of the brake calipers? It seems like the Nittos, MT's and Toyos are 315 35 17's in their Drag Radials.

I’m not familiar with their sizes. But that’s a short tire. Mikey Thompson is the most popular tire around here. That 35 needs to be a 50 or 55. Need all the sidewall you can get.
welcome btw. Happy to see more racers around here.

The tires most commonly used by Hellcats at the track are the M/T 305 and 315/50-R17 ET Street R’s. The 305 is 28” tall and the 315 is 30”. With a 2.62 gear, I would try the 305 first. That 30” tall 315 is really going to put your driveline to the stress test. Make sure you put the Per4mance diff brace in place before you lay into it at the track. I also recommend cradle lockout bushings to help tighten up the rear. If you have wheel hop issues then the AAD control arm set will address that.

The vent wings are tricky. There are a couple of integral rivets in the chrome frame but you cannot beat them down to hold the galvanized wing frame. I used a thin coat of epoxy and tried to beat the edge of the rivets over but hitting on them (I had a 2x4 under the frame) started to crack the chrome on the outside so I just glued them in. 906E7771-FA26-44D2-8FF8-F35A4C6816DB.jpeg

will agree. For a stock car the 305 is usually plenty. A modified car I recommend the 315

Remember that a factor in your overall gearing is the tire. You said you opted for the 2.62 rear gear. The shorter 305 may give you what you need with that gear ratio, and a lighter tire will be faster.

I wish I was in a position to make an offer on the Superbird.
