I knew it was soon to be over when we went to Bristol and we were surrounded by people who were there only for business. They knew nothing about the race. 0 knowledge.

I remember my first time @ Daytona....shocked when I saw the banking...even more so when watching the race...you cant get the sensation of speed on TV...quite the experience...

Starting this week is the start of speed weeks. Nascar is nowhere to be found.
People are now going to the small tracks around here.
We can no longer tell when Nascar has a race since the crowds are so small.

Tickets were almost impossible to get then. I used some connections to get ours. It was a sad day. Actual fans couldn't get these tickets.

We regularly went to Dover. Always went to practice and Busch race. It was a great time.

I read where many dirt track drivers make more than nascar drivers. Same is true in drag racing. Most nhra drivers make less money.

When they were in town I would see different drivers cruising in some badass cars.

One time I saw a driver who drove for Rousch, in a Ford GT. I pulled up next him and revved with the S55. It was just a lot of fun back then.

See them in restaurants. It was a given that you left them alone.

Today they all hide in their motor homes.

The crew members brought Harleys and they would ride around on their days off. Many times going through the loop.

Nascar during the day. Short track racing at night.

The area was full of race fans.

Such prima donna's today...years back Jeff Gordon was to do a 2hr. public signing @ a local Chevy dealer...his car was there...tons of people..little kids the works....He wouldn't get outta the limo till he got the check in his hand...as a result his 2 hr. signing gig was cut to 45 min....That was it for that POS as far as I was concerned..
