THE LATEST...

Timeline for Fiat Chrysler, PSA deal

Giving an estimated date for their proposed tie-up, Fiat Chrysler (NYSE:FCAU) and Peugeot-owner PSA (OTCPK:pEUGF) told their employees they would sign a binding merger agreement in the coming weeks. Nine working groups were further established to create the world's fourth-largest carmaker. FCA Chairman John Elkann said last week he was not worried that a shock racketeering lawsuit from GM (NYSE:GM) would derail the merger, which aims to keep the companies ahead of the curve with connected, electrified, shared and autonomous mobility.

It’s agreed by the two companies but now has to go through all the regulatory stuff. And all can thank the world governments Green Agenda for creating this future fiasco. I’ll be amazed and surprised if the merger creates a better Company in the long run. And it’s a money grab from the Jeep and Ram division to keep the Government protected Unions in tact for short term. I think those will be pawned off to pay the debts and Dodge and Chrysler left behind. Way too many products and platforms presently and the article point blank says they want just 2 platforms.

Some here may say it’s too early to think the bad but just look at what’s happening. The American footprint is being moved further and further into Europe and not much American foot print will be left eventually. You will have a majority European rule and car market to cater to over the North American market and especially China which is driving a lot of car makers decisions as well. And sincerely hope my predictions are not correct since I’m a muscle car American guy but damn the American presence will disappear with this new merger imo. And FCA will now be second in command hmmm wonder how long Mike Manley lasts?

If you read this article it only reinforces how the government is expecting job security in this deal. And FCA already has a huge problem a 1/4 of its work force basically has little to no work per this statement: FCA’s underused plants in Italy employ some 58,000, more than a quarter of its workforce.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...rger-with-psa-says-jobs-crucial-idUSKBN1YN0WM

And what many don’t think about is the repercussions the world governments feel with loss of payroll taxes. And should the merger shed thousands of jobs this is huge tax revenue loss as well as union loss. This is an ongoing carry over issue that was the most expensive part of the Fiat Chrysler buyout of the UAW Union. The UAW was granted during the Bankruptcy a good portion of ownership forced by the good old USA Government. And now it will even be bigger than ever with the new merger since the unions will have power by government intervention to approve the deal. The most recent report here on union power has come to light as well with corruption of the former UAW Head guy who buddied up with Sergio Marchionne to control labor costs. GM is suing FCA RIGHT NOW over this back end dirty deal.
https://www.detroitnews.com/in-dept...-leaders-sparks-decade-corruption/2634016001/
The world governments feed off of payroll taxes and force the hand of employment. But yet write such strict laws and enforce new rules of manufacturing products that in the end create mischief.
