Bought a 78 from a customer who was liquidating his assets and moving back to California.

I couldn't drive the damn thing it was so small. The pedals were so close. Ended up selling it at Mecum.

MGB was the MG Midget’s big brother.

Did it come with a voucher for oil-dry? I've never seen one that didn't leak oil.

The engine had been recently rebuilt so it seemed to be good.

What a contrast between the B's beautiful metal dash and the new ones' sea of plastic and a touch screen.

Much like that even Ray Charles could tell an MGB from other cars while, to me at least, the newfangled one just looks like most new cars do.

But I'm partial. My first car was a metal dash MGB.

They were interesting & stylish cars to be sure, but a real maintenance nightmare. Triumph's were the same !

Maintenance nightmare?!? Adjusting the valves and points every now and then was all the ones I had ever asked for.
In addition to regular fluid changes, of course. And there was no 6-month rule for the oil, so if anything they had less maintenance requirements.

Triumph? Never had one, never wanted one.

I had a ‘73 Austin Marina. It had an MGB engine. It was pretty reliable. That is, until it decided to do an unprovoked about face on an icy bridge and kiss a guard rail.

Speaking of unprovoked, I did forget one maintenance detail.

After every weekend having road raced it on a twisty track, the spokes on the rear wheels had to be retightened.
That car had quite a few miles on it, so I guess the rear wheels were getting tired.
