I didn't post my recognition of Memorial Day yesterday...fortunately I have never lost a family member or friend to the misfortunes of war...but Memorial Day has had a profound effect on me with every year I get older...especially given the current state of affairs of our nation...I spent the morning hours placing small flags at the grave sites of fallen war servicemen,,,68 of them..(one for every year I've been drawing breath on Gods green earth)...this is a ritual I have performed for the last 5 years...I do it alone..this year my wife received the shipment of flags I purchased on line and asked me what in gods name are you gonna do with all these flags..(she thought I was up to one of my usual pranks)..I've never told her what I do...It's an emotional experience for me...and a very private one...Memorial Day stays with me for about three days before I get back to what I call the luxury of living my life...a luxury insured by the sacrifice of those that served...I pride myself in the role of the Forum idiot...yesterday..and for the next few days..I'm no idiot..just a citizen with a sense of immense gratitude and remorse for the men I can never thank...
