I was an early adopter of the black on black look with my Grand National with GNX style wheels and a 72 Skylark with black powder coated Torque Thrust wheels with flat center caps. I like the black slingshot Hellcat wheels, but am hoping my next Hellcat comes with Brass Monkeys. I'm not a fan of the new five spoke Hellcat wheels in any color.

No shit. I just found the thread. Most would think I am crazy for the money I have spent on NOT BLACK wheels. Two sets, hate black so much. Soon my OE blacks will wear their original new PZero's again! If I am at a track on a rain day it won't be a loss. I am going to take them with on the road to the tracks. If we take a trip and don't want the jewels on it on the road, to be low key, I can also throw them on (not likely, screw it it is insured).

If my black HC had other accents, like chrome badges or trim, I’d have chrome wheels. Since it doesn’t, and everything is black plastic, black wheels look great on it.

I loved the look of my WK1 Jeep SRT8 on the polished 20s... but it also had chrome trim around the truck. Very tasteful.

I think most hate against black wheels comes from folks who are thinking mostly of cars that have Rustoleum'ed flat black, debadged (or d-bagged if you like), lowered, hats on side ways, and all that. I did myself did not particularly care for black wheels in general, but like them on this car. Of course we all know why Dodge used them - to hide all the pad dust.

I had a choice of Aluminum and Gold before I landed on black with my Rohana's with red center caps. I think it looks cleaner and more sleek in black and matches with the rest of my car.

There are a lot of wheels I don't like but black wheels are not on that list. More importantly, I give no F's what anyone else likes. Nah, you only get what's "popular" if your purpose is to make your car a social media influencer. For example, if you want to be popular on Instagram, you would get a crazy wrap, followed with some crazy color wheels and a widebody. Boom, tons of likes and potential sponsorships because that's what is popular right now. Throw in the fancy camera angle pictures and catchy caption and people will worship your car.

But if you're not doing any of that, you get what you want.

On various other forums it comes up quite often how polarizing black wheels are. Many people think they are "ghetto", and I'm not talking about people who simply remove the hubcaps and drive around on the black steel wheels. I get that.

But actual black rims that are on most of the FCA SRT vehicles and many other makes & models. I agree it may be a little played out as almost every manufacturer offers a real black rim package.

If they are cool looking..(and most are)..it would only make sense that every manufacturer would offer them

Not sure how so many people are tired of black wheels. Usually those comments are from chrome fans. Chrome to me looks so tacky and has been around FAR longer and looks so much more ghetto to me. Dgatz has literally the only decent looking chrome ive seen on a Hellcat in five years. What are the other options? White = ew. Red = barf. Silver = eh. Charcoal or gunmetal have been around on every car ever made for the last fifty years. Even hubcaps are those colors.
I prefer the black all day because it's more understated and isnt screaming “Hey look at me! I need attention!”, pretty much the anti-ghetto, and honestly it's been around for a lot less time than people make it out to be.

So just what is a ghetto wheel???..clue me in
