Ive got to do some touch up on one of my rims. I was hoping someone could please advise me of the nearest rattle can paint that would match the Semi-gloss finish? Paul of PK couldn’t provide a paint code. Thanks.

RAL 9005 in an satin/eggshell paint finish should work. That is what I used on mine

Thanks Lord Hellcat. I guess that’s got to be run through a gun? I can’t find it in a rattle can.

Nope. Its more than just a touch up. The wheel was refinished once already but it’s too glossy and needs to be knocked down a bit. I really don't want to repaint the whole thing, especially with a tire mounted, but it obviously doesn't match. Can I knock the gloss back a bit, or is reshooting it the only way?

Do yourself a favor and powdercoat the rims, as good as the finish is you will get rock chips everywhere.

I did all 4 of mine

I think my local guy wants 125.00 per rim but I’m certain the tire will have to come off so a dismount, mount, and balance is going to add to the cost. Ill be around 200.00 by the time I’m done, plus no assurance of match I’m certain, so....

Any local wheel repair shop can fix it and color match. They don't even have to remove the tire to do it and many will come to your house. I've had it done several times on some of my wife's vehicles. They do good work.

I use Alloy Wheel Repair Specialist locally but they are a franchise and have locations all over the US and some outside the US too.

Even after repair you will keep chipping that's why I just powdercoated all 4 same as the factory does, painted rims will always chip.

In the long run it will drive you nuts.

All 4 cost me $800 total balanced, mounted etc.

I don't disagree that powder coating is a better option. If the OP is trying to keep cost down though, repair is going to be cheaper. My BC Forged wheels came painted and just over a year I was unhappy with their finish so I had Alloy Wheel Repair Specalist powder coat them, cost me $600 and that includes tire dismounting, mounting and balancing. And they even came to my house to pick the wheels up and delivered them to their Atlanta facility which did the powder coating and then delivered them back to me, all for $600 all inclusive. I just couldn't beat that price anywhere.

I’ve got that Sears do it yourself powder coating gun, never opened it. Only problem is I don't have an oven suitable for use. Wouldn't dare putting it in the kitchen over, in fact directions call for a non-food oven.

Years ago I had a set of polished rims clear powdercoated so that they would be easier to clean and so that I wouldn't have ot polish them all the time (I lived a block and a half from the beach). I was all in for about the same price you mentioned, maybe a little less, but it was well worth it.

I agree well worth the price.

I got the 5" Carven tips in black and powdercoated them also they had so many rock chips after a week of driving, painted car parts just don't hold up well in real world driving.

There's a reason the factory rims are powdercoated not painted, could you imagine the warranty claims if they were painted! Ouch!!
