I always bought used ones. 5-7 years old with really low miles. We have a local Mercedes specialist who is very reasonable but the later models are to expensive to keep.

The amg's are brutal. That plus the new mercedes design language is ugly in my opinion. I may never go back to MB if they continue this trend. Bmw has better cars at the moment imo.

Before the world recently went to hell I was looking through used E550's (I wanted a V8 this time), and the prices weren't bad. I found a few low mileage ones in Fla. that I was interested in. But then the world went to crap at a higher level so I walked away.

Now I just want an up-armored truck and the zombie apocalypse.

Hell no.

But I am offended that my dumb ass didn't think about doing something like that with either of the humvees I had to drive, they were plenty slow enough once they were loaded down with that turret and armor plating.

I traded a E550 for the Charger. I can't blame everything on Mercedes but living on the ocean with the car for a year absolutely murdered it. Everything was corroding and stopped working correctly.

This is the main reason why I went and looked at the Charger. The late 90s early 2000s E classes were tough battle wagons and lasted 200k+ miles. I like a tough car.

We used the 6 cylinder ones for daily drivers and business. We would run them all to 200K miles.
Very low maintenance costs, good drivers and comfortable.

I had a E320 diesel and that thing had low end grunt like a tank. Many people were surprised when they got jumped by a Benz at a light.

I liked the car overall but that damned electrical issue drove me nuts, and the fact that neither Mercedes nor the dealer seemed to be interested in doing anything other than replacing the same component time after time drove me to my end.

Mine was a 2008.....and it wouldn't surprise me. Seems that lots of wiring these days has a soy based covering, which also seems to be attractive to rodents.
