I searched and didn't find much to sorry if this has been covered before.

My 170 will be coming up on the end of the 3yr 36K mile warranty at the end of the year and I'm considering an extended warranty for it. I've never bought one before as I usually modified my cars, but the 170 doesn't really need anything to be honest so I'm looking at one for it.

I thought I could buy one at the end of the 3yr, say a 5yr extended, and get 8 years total, but reading on the Mopar warranties it sounds like they don't start on the purchase date, but are retro back to the in service date of the vehicle. That seems kinda dumb to me or at the very least mis-leading.

I'm also reading conflicting information on if it covers track breakage like the factory warranty does.

Anyone got the scoop or suggestions?

I checked on one for the C8 Z06 and it starts the day it's purchased.

The Mopar stuff is NOT like the z06. Starts the day the vehicle is put into service. Looked into it for my Durango and after 6 months the rates go up pretty steep and I'm not sure there's much benefit other than extending your bumper to bumper to match your Powertrain

Z06 starts the day you buy the warranty from what I found. I was hoping I'd missed something.

I've found a 7yr Mopar (4 addl years) for like $2500.

As I recall the MOPAR warranties begin on the in-service date, pricing depends on if your OE 3/36 has expired and your current mileage.
I would triple check with the seller to make sure it covers track breakage ;)

Oh. It does? That's not at all when it sounded like. That's actually sweet for the ZO6 then...

Yeah. Mopar peeps get the bone on warranty. Totally goes by vehicle purchase/in service date.
