My wife thinks Corvettes are for old guys in midlife crisis. She would not drive one. She’s a lady in midlife crisis and drives this…… 911 Turbo S Cabriolet. 😊 View attachment 125727

Porsche horsepower is just too damn expensive. I’ve thought about trading the hc and the 981 and getting gt4 or Spyder, but damn I’d be spending all that extra cash for like 100hp and then I’d be out a ~750whp hc, really doesn’t make sense to me. Best for now to keep both and just enjoy the 981 as weekend car (which is perfect for us)

My wife’s 2005 Turbo S is something of a anomaly. 2005 was the year that they changed from the 996 platform to the 997. The assembly line wouldn’t build the older 996 anymore. Problem for Porsche was they didn’t have the Turbo version of the 997 ready for production. What to do? They hand built a limited number of 996 Turbos, called them a “S” and threw everything they had into it. Including GT Race stuff on some. That’s what she’s got. We bought the car in 2013 for $65k. The window sticker shows MSRP of $159k in 2005 in Riverside, California. That means it went out the door for $170k. It lost over $100k in 8 years and only had 19,000 miles on it when we bought it. The woman selling it was a doctors wife in Newport Beach and she was buying a new one. It’s gone up in value since we bought it. Not sure what it’s actually worth now. It still only has 33,000 miles on it. I don’t want to know because she won’t sell it. 41335E3B-0299-4FD6-97BB-ABCB65AAC299.jpeg 6E9F5142-C472-4E30-826D-DDC7E8A1890A.jpeg 82481C01-C64D-47A4-9DA6-74CCFA1680DB.jpeg 0B7E66B8-2DD4-48ED-9F11-9EC5D2E2CB1E.jpeg

I've been watching 911 Turbos on BAT for over a year. Local dealer usually has better prices to be honest.

The "purists" seems to think that they're not a real deal Porsche for some insane reason.
This is the model that I would look for.

The purists didn’t like going from air cooled to water to start. Then they were gagging on the fried egg headlights. It didn’t help that the economy Boxer had those same headlights. I have to admit that Porsche was kinda lost at times with 912’s, 914’s and 944’s. I think the basic 996’s got put in the less than special category. I don’t like those either. But this version is very capable and will hold its own with pretty much anything in the 2005 era.

I have 0 issues with those cars but I'm not a purist. 😎😎

Don't you need to do some bearing replacement on this? ASC or something?
