I traveled a distance away in the US from Canada for my son’s hockey camp and on day 1, my 2018 DDSRT died. All the dash lights went crazy with the warning lights “service shifter” and “no bus”. The dealer said it was a fried DTCM and no comms with the ELSD module. They don’t know why it happened but thinks it is because a a bad clutch in the transfer case. I am skeptical. But getting the modules replaced as I have no choice. Does anyone have any idea why the modules would have overheated and fried? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. I’m not smart enough to help you out on this. Hopefully, someone else can.

Make absolutely certain your battery is fully charged!

Sounds crazy, but low voltage causes crazy shit to happen.

What the heck is a DTCM? Do the Durango's have something additional for the fwd/rwd bias?

So they replaced both modules and still getting the No Bus message. They said they saw a comprised wire in the harness which was an easy fix and it worked. Drove back hime for 8 hours and so far so good! But $4k later…

@Paul Sheesh, paying $4,000 to fix your Durango sounds like an outrageously high cost.

Hopefully, everything from here on out will go smoothly.

Yes, they originally wanted me to replace the transfer case for $4500 also. I’m so glad I didn’t approve that as after the compromised wire was fixed, they said the transfer case codes were gone too.
I do plan on getting a new battery today as it’s still the original from 2018 even though they said it was still good.
