in the old SC GTO I would pick up folks at park and rides so I could use the car pool lane. It was hilarious to hear some of their reactions. Got chased down by FBI and ATF agents twice (but they have no traffic enforcement authority). One of the few folks to do 120+ in the car pool lanes. lol, funny to think about. Once some of the regular rides got an idea of what was going on they'd cut in line and rush the car. There's probably the whole series of "Tales from the Park and Ride" still floating around out there on the GTO site somewhere. Then there was the guy in a turbo diesel truck that worked for like three weeks to catch it at just the right time so we could line up at the light in to down town. I didn't know he was going to launch like we were at the drag strip but although he treed me we had him before the next light.

But before all that concrete was finished, it was the 1.5 hour slog each way, and it was just life sapping. (hence the MB S500 too, might as well drive a living room if you have to sit for ever)

They say it takes 1 hour to get from Toronto to Toronto LOL

For visiting Brits who are used to 3 lanes the 401 into Toronto is quite an experience at rush hour when you've no idea where you are going

I lived in Houston with my brother one summer while in college. Had to drive out Westheimer to the restaurant where I was a cook at 5pm every day. Total parking lot. I had a TR6 with no a/c. I would get to work soaking wet with sweat and "cool off" in the kitchen. Joy!

I live 1.5 hrs north east of TO. was coming back with RV in tow from rock point provincial park on lake Erie.

I don't think that looks all that bad. My old stomping ground, the Katy Freeway.This part is not that bad (or wide), but if you count the surface streets (which TxDOT considers to be part of the freeway design as collectors) and the HOV lanes, you're looking at 24 lanes.

we go away mid week 2/3 days at a time in the RV. an we like the provincial parks. wife`s relatives live down there so that`s how we ended up there.

Stay away from Portland then...nothing but stupid assholes. I cringe every time I have to go there. For me the key is go alone, and take the R1, not a car. I spent many years in LA/Torrance traffic, and soon learned that a motorbike would cut my commute times significantly.

Gave up riding when I moved to houston. Too many idiots who will run right over you while looking straight at you. Add in cell phones now and no thanks.
