For those who use street drag radials for dd what do you think about them as far as being safe and driving comfort. And are they quiet on the road?

Im running nitto 555r on mine. Drive fine in the rain and does ok at the track. I cut a 1.63 60ft at the track today and ran a 10.89@126 aired them back up and drove and hour home. They are no noisier than the stock tires.

Guess it depends are where you live.
In the south, where we average about 6 feet of rain a year, with the NITTOS, it could get squirrelly.
But if you paid attention, it was do-able.
With MT's, I would change tires before I drove in the rain.
Did not like driving with them on in the rain.
Really, it's all subjective.
What you are prepared to accept, and your comfort level.
They are not stock tires and do not feel like them in the rain.

I run 555r on the Hellcat and 555r2 on the Redeye all year long but we don’t get much rain and I never drive in the rain anyway so.... They are both far better then the factory summer or all season tires for sure. I must say the 555r2 has a better bite then the 555r.

Why are you driving in the rain??
Rained the day I drove my car home from the dealership.
Most of the time with a 40% chance of rain, it won't.
But sometimes it does....
Wanna drive the car, got to step out sometimes.
Prefer not to.

Out of curiosity, does a street drag radial give you worse off handling for turning/cornering? Like worse off than an all season tire?

Thank I don't have to...neither cat has been rained on...and over the winter ...I have detailed the underneath of both cats...they are spotless...my wife thinks I'm crazy..I even use long strips of emery cloth ..and mothers aluminum polish to shine the whole exhaust...(yeah I know I'm not right)

Nitto NT05R’s 315’s are my rear summer tires on 11 inch HR5’s. Not a problem if I get stuck in the rain, although I try not to. No abrupt movements or throttle, that’s all. Giant improvement over the Pirellis, well worth the upgrade.

I definitely have worse off than the pirellis at this point...don’t won’t to derail OPs thread. Doing my due diligence on tire research now. Love my R888s on my Viper, but doesn’t seem to get great remarks on the Hellcat.

555r2 for me. Makes the car more fun to drive on the street then the stockers. I use M/T's at the track but the 555R2 did hook at the track when I did run them last summer

Only in the rain, that I have noticed.

NT555R for me. Love em! Next will be the R2s. I try to stay out of the rain, but when I have been caught, I just drive slow.

What grit emery cloth did you use? I was looking at mine thinking of doing something with it. Will the Mothers polish also protect it? This will go on next winters list.

You would think I would remember...I think it was 220 if memory serves me..I cut it in long strips bout an inch and a half wide..the cars up on a lift..just like a shoe shine guy would do...the emery cloth is way more durable than sand paper it wont tear...and use small amount of mothers...I use water(almost like wet sanding.)..so the polish doesn't dry out..they clean up nice...(y)

555R2 way to go! For street 315/35s on my Redeye 11inch she hooks really well with these. And they’re definitely a step up from the ps4s which are good tires as well I use on my charger
