I think I mentioned this before in passing, but I found out today why they tried to initially deny warranty coverage. They said this guy "did not maintain the car properly." It had 850 miles on it. I know this guy remotely and he is not one to thrash a car or otherwise abuse it. Had to be factory/manufacturing defect (like the Costa Rican oil cooler lines I had to have replaced). They replaced the motor in the end under warranty. But he agrees with what I have said - the dealership experience for me has been the worst part of owning this car. Only Benz has come close in complete jack-assedness. Now I'm not saying all dodge dealers are piss poor, I've been to one that was good, but the others, damn.

Well, my Dodge dealer is piss poor. I took mine in for an oil change/tire rotation. Simple job. They forgot to drain the oil cooler and over filled the oil. After I set them straight on that, they tried to give my car back. "You guys gonna finish that rotation?"

"We already did it sir."

"See that white chalk mark on my left rear? Yeah, I put that there and it's still on the left rear. Should be on the right front. Try again."

The tech smiled this cheeky grin and took my keys back. He knew I wasn't some rando-yuppie there for the coffee and donuts. I pray that I never have to have actual warranty work done here because it's the only Dodge dealership within about 100 miles with a proper service department.

I agree, service SUCKS most every where but That was like telling your waitress your food sucks please remake this, she goes and tells the cook that, he makes new food for you, and then you eat what she brings back. NOT ME lol, no way, I’d starve first or go else where. When your car starts to smell funny sitting in the sun look for a turd under the seat, piss under the floor matts, or a used condum in your glove box that the tech handed one off in for you then touched your steering wheel after beating the snot out of your car some how. Lucky you didn’t leave there with screws in your tire treads.
You have no idea what your reports have probably done to you in your life leaving yourself wide open like that. You must have never been on the dark side of the street??

I had a horrible experience with the V86 emissions recall. Dodge didn’t seem to care. Also came to found out that the service manager lied about my warranty, told me I didn’t have coverage but did. At the time was forced to buy a drive shaft out right. Its currently in litigation and not looking good for Dodge. (Cant say much more.)

lol. Try having the oil cooler lines replaced, the head unit replaced (which is only done with "repaired" units that have already had problems), wheel mating surface problem (there's a star for this) and now needing the infamous catalytic converter efficiency recall.... yeesh

They pulled that on me once before when I had the free oil change.. I asked to rotate the tires, they never did. But I knew too because of where the wheel was curbed a bit heh. I didn’t bring it up just wanted my car back. Been taking it to my local shop now

I've also sued a Ford dealership back in 2016 for doing something similar. They dragged a tool across my hood and tried to claim the damage was done before it arrived. But, I always take a detailed video in the dealership parking lot before I turn the keys over to the service advisor to document any issues with the car. This car in question was a limited edition 50th Anniversary Mustang with 29 miles on it (#17 of 1964). I still own it, and it has 64 miles on it presently. It is being time capsuled for resale in the next 20 years or so. I brought it in to address an electrical issue with the center gauge cluster lights not working.

They fixed the car, but when it came back out there was an 8 inch long deep scratch in the center front of the hood. The service manager said, "Yeah, that was there when it arrived. I made comment about it as they were loading it up on the rack." So, I showed him the video I took in his parking lot a few minutes before. It was a 4k video that clearly showed no damage on the hood. "That's not your car sir." But, as he kept watching, I even included the limited number plaque, etc. So, I asked what they were going to do to fix it. "It was already there sir."

So, I marched into the general manager's office. Told him what was going on and he said he would get to the bottom of it. He agreed to repair the hood... which, meant after the body shop looked it over, would require a respray. This is no good for me as I was storing the car as a factory original collector car... and I was not about to get a respray. I wanted them to bring in a specialist to blend/repair the damage to maintain the originality of the hood. They didn't want to do that because Ford wouldn't cover it.

Soooo....

I ended up taking them to court. I didn't go small claims. I used the discovery process to identify who damaged the car, found out about the lie told to the foreman, who later covered for him with the Service Manager, who then admitted to telling the GM how the damage occurred. That tech lost his job, as did the foreman and the service manager. The dealership paid to have a specialist flown in from California to do the concourse paint repair, and they paid for my attorney's fees.

The moral of the story is, don't mess with my cars. I have plenty of free time on my hands to legislate any major issues... and especially, don't mess with my collector vehicles. I am a lot more lax with my road cars, like my Hellcat... but on the 50th and my 67 GT500... the degree of anal retentiveness I have is a serious character flaw.

Too much work for me lol, I definitely don’t have that kind of time, or patience. Luckily for me I can do all the work myself but I realize not everyone can and they’re at the mercy of these kinds of A holes. Glad you got your stuff straightened out for you the correct way.

Always vid on drop off. My car's aren't on the scale of value as yours, but I bagged this Dodge dealership here because they damaged the paint on the drivers door 15 seconds after I handed them the keys. After that, for the service work, I lived in the work bay and did all the driving. Had them pay my body man directly for the work to fix it. lol, the GM told FCA they did not want to service my vehicle any more. And of course, I am crushed. When we bought a Thunderbird from them later my wife negotiated a killer price, lit him up in front of his staff, and then we I came to complete the deal he followed me all over the dealership but woudn't say anything.

Great tip to video before giving the car up. So easy with our phones.

I hadn't thought of it.

Man you guys are not helping my fear of dealer service departments. I've purchased and installed myself two parts so far that should have been under warranty in order to avoid the dealership. I'm only going in if it gets real expensive like a supercharger or engine.

Roger that. I had a Dodge dealership years ago do a swap on a deformed a-pillar cover and demand to keep the old cover (I know they supposed to document and provide to FCA but I almost had them ready to turn it over to me, was going to use it as a base for pillar guages). :-(

Not all dealers are cluster Fs... But I would say the majority are.
