I know out of all you guys ya'll have ran both tires 305/45/17" and 315/50/17. My car is A8 and mostly 2.62 gears. I'm using 305/45/17 28" tall but want to run 315/50/17 but with my gears most same dont do it. I dont want to know what someone's cousin said to a brother. I would like to know if anyone thats has personally ran these tires. if I cant find a definite answer I'm just going to install rear lower Trailing arms and demon springs and stay with what I got. Or buy DBR's for the 1/8 track and use the 305's in the 1/4

I run them but I have a 3.70 I need to step down to a 3.09, if you’re not modded and making over stock power not sure they’re needed and might hurt it with the 2.63

running upper 2.75 and 1050X injectors is all but the track has to be prepped will or it will just spin with the 305's. what are you asking for the 315's

What

air are you running them at?
I drive them to the track so there not cold but I run 20psi. and if the track is prepped good I get 1.40's 60' but after a bunch of cars have ran it drop's to around 1.7 1.8 and I run a lot of gamblers races so be consistent is everything

one run at 6.20@110 and then 6.97@107 just wont work

I ran the 315/50/17 on good prep very consistently on my car last year. utilizing 1st and second gear launches. with the 2.62 rear.

I ran the 315/50/17 on good prep very consistently on my car last year. utilizing 1st and second gear launches. with the 2.62 rear.
I hate to sounds so dumb but we can launch our A8 in second gear? If so I didnt know that....

yes sir!! when staging paddle down to first then hit the right paddle once, it will go to second. or just ask Jon to make a second gear launch tune for you.

I'm gonna try that this weekend at tnt....I dont mess with the paddle's but I do know you can pull the shift lever one and it goes in manual and I think pull it and it'll shift up a gear. Heck I have never thought about that

I meant 315/55. Anything will fit with a spacer and sledge hammer

I think 2nd gear launch doesn't need to be thought about until running low 9s or even 8s. When I added a pulley last year I ran into some bad wheel hop I made one good pass, 9.86@140. This was with 305s and 2.62 gears. Next time to the track I had 315/50/17 and AAD arms on the car and I have not spun since. Based on the few times I ran the car after it looks like the taller tire and weight I lost about a tenth but the traction is way more worth it to me. I may have just needed the arms but wasn't about to go back to the track and have more issues. The whipple went on in October. I added nearly 10 mph and I'm still yet to spin. I have only launched twice in 1st but it hooked both times. We are going to try to stay with a 1st gear launch and maybe soften it a little. The day I launched in 1st the track prep was good for the race I was at. May have issues on a normal tnt. but the car leaves way smoother with the tires and arms. I would do both on any car in the 9s.
