I mean WTF, called the good people at Discount Tire Direct who has recently purchased Tire Rack for everyone's info, and also Tire Rack. DTD actually called Michelin to inquire about even ordering a:

Cup 2 345/30-20

NOTHING IN STOCK, NOTHING PROJECTED TO EVEN BE IN PRODUCTION! Flipping nothing can be promised at least for 60 days. Dah, we are going to be racing and returning to tracks even in the frozen north soon people!!

Matter of fact there is not squat of any racing tire available from anyone in that size! Give me a break! And my message for Michelin, I ordered two front tires (325/30-20). Unless you get your ass in gear, my next set of anything will NOT be from your company. My existing 345/30's for the rear have enough thread etc. to work with the new fronts. After that, I am looking elsewhere!

I think every tire manufacturer (and a lot of manufacturers of other things, too) has had out-of-stocks lately. Employee shortages, material shortages, shipping problems in China, etc. Add to that the seasonal demands and you better plan ahead.

So you are told to believe.

No one told me anything.
That's exactly what you were told.

Last year there were projected rubber shortages

Goodyear was bragging about having secured their supply chain.

Then they proceeded to buy out other tire manufacturers. Nice way to take over the market.

How long are “shortages” going to last?
I am over all that shit along with the Covid questions every time we check in to a doctors office and shit like that too. ENOUGH!

For any amount of money, can’t buy stuff!

They should just list DISCONTINUED if that size and type are not selling. What did they expect for $700-$1,000 per tire? I found two in Europe today. I am sure that would have been fun to arrange.

I know you need that size but did you see if they had other sizes? Maybe they are just out of those

As long as they can IMO.

Although Ford is claiming they left over 2B on the table due to part shortages last year.
At some point, it has to hurt enough to ramp up volume again.

I almost think a full recession is needed to reset the economy.
Let stuff show back up on shelves again.

Dealer lots are full or very close.

Only people who get hurt in a recession are the everyday people like us. The rich already have everything they need.

BTW, isn't Discount Tire Direct the same company as Discount Tire?

My understanding was they split them into subsidiaries so they could keep the accounting and other things siloed.

Not here they are not.
The local Dodge dealer had Rams lined up 3-4 rows and Wranglers a solid 2 rows before COVID. Easily 20+ per row.
Now i'd say 60% of that lot is empty.

Yes, it is that large size. My guess is that nobody was spending nearly $800 a tire, so they are laying off for a while. I’ll need to check back and if they make them get a couple. Pricks.
