I found some great track prep a couple weeks back and the car was able to launch under full power @ 2000 rpm in first gear. The feeling of hooking up that hard is an adrenaline rush that is going to be hard to beat!

I am still scratching my head at the timeslip though. The DA was terrible (4500+) and I am still full weight (plus my fat ass) but I feel like that 9 sec slip should be easily possible at this level. I am beginning to wonder if the trans has issues as I can't find any other reason for the times.

Any advice from the pro's? ;)

Mods:
2.5 Metco Upper
FIC 1200 Injectors
Tapped Performance Dual drop-in pumps
JMS Dual Pump booster
E85 and Trans Tuned by Dusterhoff (Running Renegade E98 at the track)
Carlyle Demon Killer Springs
AAD Drag Pack rear suspension
Diff Brace
4" Wiles Driveshaft
P305/45R17 Mickey Thompson ET Street Rs
Stock 2.62 rear end
Stock front wheels / tires

I used Track Transmission and Street Traction and Suspension with Traction Control still enabled.

Video of the pass with timeslip and slow-mo of the launch...

Gear changes sounded fine but I use sport for traction. 1st time out I was in street and it didn't feel right between gears changes and I ran a 10.71. Next pass with it in sport went 10.64 with the same 60 ft on both passes

There is a tenth for every 7-800 foot drop. Also what is your race weight?

9.98 @ 138 on a 1.52 60ft here to back up my 9.97@139 on a 1.58 60ft.

On kill is a 2.5 pulley on a dusterhoff straight E85 tune. Daily is a 2.95 on flex.

LMI
FIC1200
Injected Gasohol dual pumps
Catless Mids
Jokerz Full Tilt Blower
CCI 4" driveshaft
DIRS/Race Brace
AAD everything minus toe rods
315/50/17 ET R on D5 beadlocks
910whp on Allpar's mustang dyno

I ran track everything except traction set to sport and I was on the foot brake at ~2500rpm according to the log.

The short times are killing us. 1.40 would slam me deep into the 9's...car is also short shifting itself out of 1st due to IAT1 (pre blower) being sky ass high at the line...IAT2 (post blower) is usually 110ish launch and 175ish at the traps.

Chiller is next...but I may try a different intake with an insulated box too.

The difference is the DA. Also, it will help if you can get your 60’ consistently in the 1.4’s.

suspension in track? Street is a better setup, allows the car to lift more and transfer the weight better

4500+ DA is the killer. 1000DA and you’d be 2-3 mph faster in the 1/8 and 3-4 up top and be 9.8. DA that high I would stay home lol.

Agreed but you can't compare a car that ran 9.7 in zero DA and run 10.1 in 4500 DA and think you should be able to run close to the same time with the same setup
Growing up in Denver my car ran low 14's in the early 90's. I only ran it 1 time in Michigan and went 12.9 with no changes

Not disputing that at all. FWIW I remember moving here from Cincinnati and my 300C SRT8 did a best of 12.5 in Cincy, here in ABQ the car would only do a 13.5 and the trap speeds were 9mph lower!

9mph seems excessive not saying you didn't. Typically what you will see around that time frame is 1 second and 5mph loss

Growing up in Denver and living in Michigan I couldn't go back. Leaving Cincy to go to New Mexico would be a big no for me. Not only altitude to slow the car down but living in the desert is no fun. I guess @Jimmy N. likes living in the desert though:whistle:

You’re down a few MPH, and I agree, that’s a 9 second pass anywhere under 3000’.
I imagine that’s the only reason you were able to launch under power too, because a good track could have gotten you down to 1.50 with better air, and that’d be your 9.

Of all my passes so far...the best ones are in all track except traction in sport.

I'll set custom up and try it next time out...which is looking like may at this point. FML.

Yeah I don't know...most people that I know that race a lot and venture down off the mountains usually run almost 10 mph and around a second quicker as a rule if they are close to sea level. The revised NHRA correction factor for very high DAs doesn't match up with reality. I really do think my redeye would get very low 10s at about 133-134, plenty of other people run that so it matches up with my 11.1@125 here. Funny...I grew up in Minnesota, I only ever go back to the Midwest in the summer now and I absolutely love living out here, don't know if I could go back up north! :) @Jimmy N. basically lives in southern CO so it is not a desert climate there at all.

To the OP...I see your elevation is around 1200 or so? A nice day should give you a DA in the 2000-2500 range easy so I bet you will go 9s later this fall!

Thank you for all the discussion. So what I am hearing you all say is the car is easily 9 sec capable in better weather? Sadly the DA is pretty typical for Kearney NE and that was the last race day of the season so no passes in the amazing boost weather we are having now.

Maybe I will have to try to find a track with better DA and drive a bit further as the wife says moving is not an option! :ROFLMAO:

This is the first time I have been able to launch the car consistently under full power. Apparently the track guys had a big NHRA event a month or so back and the teams with the super fast cars helped teach them how to prep better for the location (heat and altitude). My car stuck all three passes so I kept dialing up the launch RPM and adding a touch more timing on the big end but the passes were all within a tenth and 1-2 mph of each other.

I do have a full HP Tuners log of the pass that I am going to share with Curt to make sure nothing is out of whack on that front.

I have not weighed the car so I can only guess I am at least 4700 lbs given the driver weight ;)

Thanks again!

Hmm. Living the low life or sacrificing some performance? I know which one I prefer.

And the funny thing is, you get used to it pretty easy. Only when you see the timeslip do you realize cars/tracks are so much faster at lower elevations!

This morning's DA, obviously note the temperature.
