I run a staggered summer tire set up in the warmer months (Conti DW) and use the stock Pirelli AS through the winter however they are really not the best with any amount of snow, even just a dusting. I know a lot of ppl run the Blizzaks but wanted to get some opinions on a couple things.

Thoughts on running Blizzaks on the rear only?

Or is it worth running them on all 4 throughout the whole winter regardless of snow? The Midwest is hit or miss really…

My Pirelli’s have less than 1500 miles on them so I would rather not replace them. Was thinking of just buying a Blizzak wheel and tire setup for the back.

Thanks all.

Running asymmetrical like that is asking for a wreck (IMO).

You can "go", but not steer...

Mine will be for sale in March, and I'll probably be looking for $800+ shipping - just so the OP can ballpark.
Satin black repos, 275/45/20 Yokahama iceguards

FWIW - I also put a Curt tow hitch on my car and a ZL1 tow hook on the front in the event that I needed to get unstuck. I have JLT mudflaps and 250lbs of sand in the trunk... I've only ever gotten stuck in my own driveway, partially on purpose. Driven through 3 Buffalo winters - every day - no problems.

It is more important to be able to STOP and steer then go.

I did the mistake of putting winter tires on the rear (only) on a sports car once.
Sure, I could get going easier, and get up hills better, but then there was this little issue with turning.

My usual driving style did not work, at all. Instead of the rear swinging out and the car go through the turns in nice rally style, it insisted on going straight...and faster.

As others have pointed out, go with all four. If I only had two, and was somehow forced to use them, I'd put them on the front.

I got a full set on eBay for $400 that I've been running for 3 winters now. You need all 4.

I work for Bridgestone at Firestone Complete Auto Care. We definitely recommend running all four. And, you'll definitely want to dismount them when the weather starts turning warmer. This means for you in Missouri, no later than (probably) April 1st. We cringe when people arrive at the shop in June with Blizzaks still on their car. You'll eat up the tread in no time driving them in warm/hot temps.
I assume you're going with the DM-V2s for the bigger diameter wheels?

Is that what causes it? I have been blaming my right foot for the Hellcat's tread usage, regardless of temperature or tire type.

Was just going to do the DM-V2 in the OEM size 275/40/20

They would be changed out to my summers as soon as temps stay over 45 or so for sure. Missouri can have some crazy weather in the winter months... 60 one day, then -3 the next.

I had a similar problem with wheels and tires all over the place... people couldn’t believe they were all for 1 car, lol.

Many years ago the department I worked for outfitted patrol cars with only 2 snows on the rear of our crown vics. Winter sucked when they did that. Luckily we bought 2 patrol cars of the same year and one got wrecked a year later. My car was a dog car so I got those winter wheels too! I was the only one to have 4 winter tires! I'd get some reproductions and put snows on them.

Thanks for all the input. Rather than buying a whole set I may just put 4 Blizzaks on the wheels I already have and ditch the Pirelli's. Tireracks reviews of both show the Blizzaks better in every category anyway. These would be run from late October to late March/early April

Don't let the weather scare you into taking them off too soon... I know people that drove for 3 years straight on their blizzacks... Now, granted, they weren't car guys, but they didn't eat through the tires in short order like you would expect. As mentioned previously, your right foot will cause more damage than a country mile.
