TX2K22 was a great time.
I knew to test and tune from A to B
to ONLY use the nitrous if needed in eliminations.

Well, I got confused on the car beside me and knew it would be a good run on the spray during test and tune so I sent it!

Heard it break up about 1000' but by the time I could get off the nitrous was a little too late.

Got a "smoke warning"
drove the car on the trailer, started it back where we were parked, and drove it off the trailer into the shop.
Wasn't sure what I'd find. Was HOPING for a head gasket but never heard of a stock engine hellcat blowing a head gasket. Figured it was a piston. Started looking this morning........

I did some research over the past couple of days and read that at a certain power level, the small end of the connecting rod will let loose at the wrist pin. I figured I had a ways to go before I got to that power level. Guess not.

Also, the required engine diaper did exactly as it was supposed to. I had zero idea to the extent of the damage as other than the smoke out of the tailpipe there was no oil anywhere. It sat on the trailer from wednesday until yesterday with no oil other than from the tailpipe. I parked it at the lift yesterday, and this morning when I picked it up saw a small puddle of oil. When I started to drop the diaper, it was full

Enjoy my suffering hahahaha

Now to decide what to do. I do have a spare BGE bare block so now my mind is all over the place

Wow, sorry for your loss, but it makes the decision to go bigger and badder easier.

So how much power were you making???

How in the hell are they selling a Redeye long block for $5K???
Don't know but they have been for 2 months now. I've been talking with @vortecd and @16GoManGoHC2 about how it would about be stupid to not just keep it as a spare.

What's the internal difference between the two of them?

Better connecting rods, better, higher-rpm valve train are the big ones, there's other stuff, but I forget...

slightly different camshaft

Had it not let loose I might have had to start looking at parachutes (car 374)

I have a spare block so I was planning a 411 or 422, but if my crank is still good I’ll likely do rods, pistons, cam and have the heads ported then put the nitrous on a stand alone tank

Sorry about the motor but thanks for the diaper testimonial. Not only saved the track a huge cleanup but may have saved you from spinning into the wall.

its part of racing. Especially when you race your daily.
One dyno had me at 898 blower only.
the one I normally use had me at 839 blower and 964 on 100 shot.
After reading about the wrist pin end breaking I’m thinking the dynojet (898) was closer to reality than the dynocom (839)

Pardon my ignorance, the BGE is the 392 Truck block correct?

Having read about the truck engine on Hot Rod the other day, they say starting from 2018, the part number for BGE/Demon/Redeye/Hellcat/SS blocks are now the same casting?

from my understanding the BGE was originally in the 2500 6.4 trucks. In 2015 they went in the hellcats as well just painted orange vs black. In 2018 they went in all 6.2/6.4 applications

You could install it and save beating up or blowing your original motor
