You are correct. Both GM and Ford are using the same transmission in their HD's They are exact copies of their joint smaller 10 speeds only twice as big. The chief engineer at Allison spent 2 years setting the 10 speed up for GM. Ford set up their own. I just got word from one of my insiders...

With stock power the Aisin will do fine. Add a tuner and it will break fast. The 68RFE in the 2500 is just plain a PS that no one can fix because of design.
