What is this reddish brake dust on my rims?

I swapped out the Brembos a while back for Z23’s. This is after only about 30 miles of pretty easy driving. The pads have only about 3.5k or less mikes on them. Iron I guess? What’s the recommended cleaner that won’t blem my HR5 reproduction wheels? Thanks all.
PS. Why in the hell when I try to a attach a picture as I’ve done a bunch of times do I get kicked out of the forum completely? Damn frustrating it is!

All wheel cleaner, you may have to take a soft brush to them. It will probably just wash off with high pressure and the cleaner. I don’t get much dust at all on them so keep an eye on everything. Maybe some rust formed on the rims and the pads busted it off, and dusted the wheels?

Rotors look great. I just wash them with soap and water after washing the car. I dont apply any cleaner to the wheels.

I wash my wheels/calipers every time I wash my car (usually with Maguires car wash soap).
Get flash rust every time.
Maybe detail wheels/ calipers after a short drive the next day after you washed?
Just a thought..

Matter of fact today was my cleanup day after the track for me. After a heavy track day I have dust and damn near debris on my rims! Sprayed the wheels and even the calipers with NAPA All Wheel Cleaner. Pressure wash off. Then again with a brush and more cleaner on the wheels to get the film off. If they flash rust that is such a minor deal. It gets busted off the first time you hit the brakes. I changed out all the pads and had a good look at the rotors because I am short cutting and using the Z26’s on the DP rotors. Today, with that product anyway I did not see rust. I had to get everything real clean to boot on the jewelry to make it a hot rod again.

Ill give that a try. I imaging this will just wipe/hose off.

It's that's all it is.
I am very anal about cleaning my wheels.
Actually pull them off (once a month) to clean the inner barrels also.

I've a car with gloss black wheels and flash rust causing during washing looks terrible.
I usually drive round the block after washing and then give the wheels a wipe over with a detailing spray to remove.

I will say this. I had my wheels powder coated matte grey and immediately had them ceramic coated with Modesta that along with the Powerstop pads my wheels stay clean for at least 2 weeks. Then just simple Optimum No Rinse wipe and dry.

Me too exactly! Although I'm overdue, have to pop them off sometime this week.

And flash rust, yes I take a quick spin and ride the brakes a bit to heat them up to boil off any excess moisture. I do get a bit of that rust dust which I just wipe/blow away before parking it for the day.
